Interim President Armstrong has made clear that efforts to deepening engagement across our campus community is a priority.

We received a report of an unauthorized class cancellation this morning which violates University policy.

The disruption of academic activities is not acceptable conduct.

Disruptions to our classrooms and efforts to intimidate or harass our students are not acceptable, are an affront to our University community.

Columbia University is committed to creating and sustaining a teaching, learning and research environment where everyone feels welcome and safe.

As we have said repeatedly, promoting violence or terror is not tolerated in our community and is antithetical to what our University stands for.

We are reviewing the communication from the Department of Education.

We are acting swiftly to address this misconduct and will update the community as we have more information.

We are working with law enforcement to investigate the incident and will take swift action.

The violation is being addressed through the University's processes, and we are implementing additional review procedures.

The University’s investigation into the January 21 class disruption continues.

The use of imagery that glorifies violence is a breach of our values.
