The group that made this post is not recognized, authorized or supported by the University. We condemn this unacceptable call to disrupt our academic mission. Disruptions to our classrooms and efforts to intimidate or harass our students are not acceptable, are an affront to our University community, and will not be tolerated.
Immediately after the disruption of our class on Modern Israel History on January 21st, Interim President Armstrong issued a public statement unequivocally stating that Columbia does not tolerate antisemitism, discrimination, harassment, or intimidation against members of our community. We immediately initiated investigations through the Office of the Rules Administrator and the Office of Institutional Equity. We also swiftly took action to provide additional security resources to classes at increased risk for disruption. Within 48 hours we identified, suspended and barred from campus a Columbia participant pending disciplinary process. We also identified two additional participants who are not Columbia students but from an affiliated institution, referred them to their home institution for discipline and barred them from our campus.
Columbia is committed to fulfilling its academic mission and ensuring that all our students feel welcome and have access to the exceptional education we provide without disruption or any form of discrimination.
