I am writing heartbroken to inform you that we had federal agents from the DHS in two University residences tonight. 

Today, the Columbia University Judicial Board determined findings and issued sanctions related to the occupation of Hamilton Hall last spring.

At this challenging moment for our community, a message from Interim President Katrina Armstrong. 

Columbia is committed to complying with all legal obligations and supporting our student body and campus community. We are also committed to the legal rights of our students and urge all members of the community to be respectful of those rights.

There have been reports of ICE around campus. Columbia has and will continue to follow the law.

Columbia’s mission is to teach, create, and advance knowledge. For over 270 years, that mission has been grounded in an enduring and essential commitment to freedom of expression, open inquiry, and generous, respectful debate.

We have confirmed that four Columbia students were arrested as part of Tuesday’s disruption at Barnard College.

We are in touch with Barnard’s leadership and security team as they address the situation and will continue to monitor it closely.

We are aware of an incident in which our Dean of SIPA was harassed as she walked on our campus this morning.

The event was well attended and took place without disruption or interference.
