Event Policy and University Rules of Conduct

University Event Policy

University departments, offices, groups, and student organizations and non-affiliates requesting to reserve campus facilities are expected to follow University Event Policy.

University Rules of Conduct

Our decision-making on campus responses is grounded in the mission and principles of the University. The central mission of our University is to teach, create, and advance knowledge. This mission includes a commitment to free expression, open inquiry, and generous debate; it requires an environment of inclusive pluralism where all our community members can thrive. Violence, intimidation, discrimination, bullying, and any behaviors that prevent teaching, learning, or research are antithetical to our values and our mission.

Each decision on how we respond to events on our campus will flow from a core commitment to ensuring that the University must always be able to fulfill its mission of teaching, learning, and research.

As a community, we set standards and expectations for the conduct of our members. These “Rules of University Conduct,” which deal with demonstrations, protests, and other events, allow us to maintain our teaching and research mission and adhere to an environment driven by our values and principles that safeguards the well-being of everyone in our community. As a courtesy to our community, the University Senate has created “The Guidelines to the Rules of University Conduct” and FAQs about the Rules
